We are looking for someone to join our company who shares our passion for all things digital and is well experienced in PHP. Atomic Smash is a small studio of 8 people and whoever joins us will have an immediate impact on the day to day running of the studio. We have a great company culture and in the 8 years we have been operating, no one has left the development team. We are very technically minded as a studio and there is a total crossover between design and development, we really understand the web design process from start to finish whilst we also realise that projects are never really ‘complete’. There will always be room for iterations and improvements.
We are a very friendly studio that understands the pressures of life and always take a people first approach to business. We are always happy to discuss flexible working hours however we would not be looking for someone to work remotely due to our collaborative process with other staff and clients. Our office dog, Rocky, occasionally comes into the office, so please make us aware if you are not comfortable with this.
There are lots of exciting projects running through the studio from both the creative and the technical aspect. We are looking for someone who clearly loves developing and is always looking for the next piece of technology to dabble with.
The successful candidate will see themselves working very closely with clients to provide continuous delivery solutions for a small number of enterprise standard WordPress platforms that have complex integrations with external services. You will be part of a 6 strong development team and will have a group of knowledgeable team members to learn from and also share ideas with. We have a very team focused approach to work and understand the value of paired programming and regular peer code reviews.
We will expect to see a number of live example sites to talk through during the interview process, preferably these would be based on WordPress.
As well as developing WordPress driven sites there is also scope for learning new technologies and expanding your skillset further. We want our team members to be constantly learning and therefore we always have internal projects which push our skills. We are also always on the lookout for conferences / talks for team members to attend. We will be heading to WordCamp Edinburgh in November.
We are always looking at ways to diversify our team and understand the benefits of having a more diverse workplace. We are currently talking to Knowle West Media Centre about how we could help young people with less traditional educational backgrounds get into the technology industry through work experience or placement opportunities.
Candidates must be able to easily commute to our Bristol office. We are not currently accepting remote positions or contact from recruitment agencies. The successful candidate will have an initial 12 week probation period.
The job application closes on the 31st October, however, the position can be filled at any point between now and then. Interviews will be run on a case by case basis, with most being held the first week in November.
We are looking for someone to start on the 3rd of January latest, so if your notice period is longer than 1 month please get in touch as soon as possible. We will try our best to respond to all applicants but only successful applicants will be contacted.
References will be required.
