We’ve come a long way since Atomic Smash first launched back in 2010, and our journey continues to be fueled by a passion for sustainable, user-focused web enhancement.

Thinking back to where it all began

Atomic Smash was founded by Piers Tincknell and David Darke fourteen years ago. But the journey actually begins even earlier, when Piers and David met at university. Their shared curiosity about the fast-changing digital world would later spark the foundations for Atomic Smash.

By 2010, the agency was launched and, over time, we’ve refined our mission: to make existing websites exceptional.

Over the years, Atomic Smash has evolved in exciting ways, anchored by our Always Evolving® model—a continuous delivery method ensuring our clients’ WordPress, WooCommerce, and Shopify websites are always improving, adapting, and thriving.

Our approach makes us different from most agencies. Instead of building new websites from scratch, we enhance existing websites to unlock their full potential. And, as a certified B Corp, we go further with web performance to make our clients’ sites even greener, faster, more accessible and more inclusive.

Re-defining our core values

A highlight from this year was when we re-defined our core values as a team. A true example of company-wide collaboration, we came up with five values to guide the daily conduct that we want to see from one another every day:

Key milestones in our journey

Our commitment to innovation and sustainability has led to some incredible milestones over the years. From pioneering the Always Evolving® model to becoming a Platinum WooExpert and a Certified B Corp, Atomic Smash has built a legacy of growth and positive impact. Here are just a few highlights:

• Expanding our reach: We currently manage over 50 websites, with 78% hosted on renewable energy.
• Award-winning work: We are proud to have our work recognised, such as through ‘Best Digital Design’ and ‘Tech for Good’ award wins, emphasising our commitment to quality and purpose.
• Sustainability milestones: As a Climate Positive Workforce, we’ve avoided over 330 tonnes of CO2 emissions and planted 4,660 trees to date. 
• Accessibility advocacy: We share our knowledge on accessibility through resources, workshops, and talks, working to make the digital world more inclusive.
• Continuous learning: Every year, we dedicate over 300 days to professional development, keeping us at the forefront of industry advancements, and ensuring every member of the team has the opportunity to learn and grow.
