Back Back to Blog

At Atomic Smash, we’re passionate about supporting the next generation of creative and digital talent. Each year, we welcome students and early-career individuals to spend time with our team, giving them a real insight into agency life. From project management and design systems to client relationships and strategy.

Recently, we were delighted to have Finn Roche join us for a week of work experience. Finn brought curiosity, enthusiasm, and a fresh perspective to every task. Here’s what he had to say about his week with us:

My experience at Atomic Smash has been nothing less than brilliant. I have learnt so much whilst being here; I’ve been able to talk to different people about their individual roles and understand all elements that make up a company from the nitty gritty up to the huge, many-month long projects.

On Monday I was focused on writing a brief on how Atomic Smash could implement AI into their management tools to make their systems more effective and clear for all employees and the clients that use them as well. I also researched how AI could impact the SEO work that Atomic Smash use with their clients as this is a very important aspect of external communications and giving your business as much coverage as possible.

On Tuesday I was able to go over the specific software that Atomic Smash with David the co-founder. I learnt a great deal of detail on how the company manages the client projects, the budgets, billable time etc etc through sites like Monday, Productive, xero and a few others. It was very interesting to see how Atomic Smash takes care of their clients and treats everyone in the company as well.

On Wednesday I was tasked with researching Atomic’s competitors in the Bristol, Bath area, the UK and the US to get a broad understanding of how similar other companies may be and what we could do to stand out against the competition. I also researched what kind of support & maintenance packages other companies had to offer. For example, what kind of packages do competitors offer to larger, high-traffic sites in terms of security, debugging, SEO & CRO assistance, WordPress development and many others. Today was also when the entire team would catch up on all the client goals and tasks that have been fulfilled, which was great because I got to meet everyone and learn about everyone’s individual roles.

Thursday was truly great as we went to a business talk with BTF+ about how great communication impacts the bottom line. It was amazing to get a detailed understanding of everyone’s views about the internal comms of a business and how crucial keeping everyone on the same page is to help keep the business moving forward. I was also the dedicated note taker during the talk and hopefully have been able to provide Atomic Smash with a good summary of the talk and how best they could move forward with marketing and keeping company values aligned.

Friday, my final day, was brilliant as I joined in on a client call with Change Innovators. It was so interesting listening in on the conversation and seeing how great the relationship is between the businesses and what work Atomic have been doing for Change Innovators to put their website in the best position possible to attract potential customers.
It has been amazing working with Atomic Smash, I couldn’t recommend them enough as a business to work with. Even though it was just a week it was super fun with an incredibly friendly and interesting work environment. Thank you very much Atomic Smash
