The Bristol UWE ‘Meet the Employers Fair,’ is an annual event for students and graduates to meet employers, operating within their field of study, and find out about potential placements, internships and volunteering opportunities.
This is the first year we have attended the fair and also the first time we have exhibited as a business! It was a good experience for us to meet and talk about Atomic Smash, with so many talented students, graduates and also other businesses.
It was particularly encouraging to meet lots of students on computing courses, with a keen interest in going in to web design and development. A lot of students asked us about what programming languages would be most beneficial to learn and how they can progress to enable them to work for a studio like ours in the future. There are a lot of answers to these questions but below is a list of our best bits of advice…
Although we do not have any specific internship or graduate schemes, we are looking to perhaps put some in place in the near future, so it was also a great opportunity and very beneficial for us to listen to the students ideas and understand what their needs are upon completing their studies.
Our reminders for next year:
Take more business cards, pins and a table cloth!
